The two secret and powerful p’s. Those would be a Paper and a Pen. After all the things I’ve seen, after all the experiences I’ve had, after all the places I’ve visited in my life, who would’ve thought that one of the biggest secrets to find both peace of mind and success would be grabbing a paper and a pen to write certain things down?
It is highly likely that you have already heard how effective and helpful it is to write down your goals and draw up a detailed plan about how to reach them. Well, that may be true, but it is also limited. This writing-down thing is a life-bettering tool in several more ways! You see, due to evolution, the human brain has gone on to be a non-stop functioning, overactive tool that processes not only every piece of information we receive on the daily, not only largely complex information, but it also generates imaginative, dark, unreal, even scary and/or embarrassing thoughts that we many times struggle to manage.
And this is where the utility of the paper and the pen kicks in. (Note: A computer can also be used, but an actual paper usually works better.) Apart from all the planning and the goal-setting, writing down thoughts, dreams, fears, things to be grateful for, big or small accomplishments, creative ideas, etc. can be of great help. It will help you put your thoughts in order, prioritize better, face your fears as writing them down is a way to exorcize them, as well as live more mindfully, more consciously. Instead of feeling controlled by your unbridled brain, you will feel like you’re once again have the upper hand.
This process also works as a self-knowing experience. While holding that paper and that pen, you will discover what you truly care about, what you are really afraid of in life, which uncontrollable thoughts that your brain keeps sending make sense and which do not, what you want to do first or before something else, among many other interesting things you hadn’t realized until then.
I highly recommend you start documenting what is going on in that brain of yours. In the comments section below, do not hesitate to let me know how liberated you felt from the very first minute!
A heartfelt thank you for reading my blog! Feel free to leave a comment and share your own views and thoughts. Even the most contradictory will be gladly received, as long as they are not offensive and even then, I might say: OK, that’s an opinion! not a good one, but an opinion!
